Q: What is the group size?
A: 25-30 people per group
Q: How many kids will be in Group A (13-18 years old)? How many adults will be with this group?
A: 25-30 kids with 2-3 chaperones
Q: What is the ratio of leaders:students?
A: About 1:10 or 1:12
Q: My child is 12+ years old. Can I enroll my child in the summer program?
A: Unfortunately, the minimum age requirement is 13.
Q: Can a green card holder join the summer programs?
A: Participants must hold a U.S. passport.
Q: When will I know if I am accepted into these summer programs?
A: We will confirm once we reach the minimum enrollment, no later than the application deadline date.
Q: Will there be local teacher (US-based) joining the group to the summer programs?
A: Yes, there will be chaperone with U.S. background to accompany the student groups (Group A).
Q: What's the main language of the summer program – English or Chinese? Will the students be practicing/using Chinese?
A: English for speeches. Mainly English for sightseeing. Yes, there will be opportunities for participants to practice Chinese.
Q: What areas/countries are the participants from? Are the summer programs exclusively for Americans?
A: In our programs, only the U.S.
Q: Should I already buy air tickets after registering and paying the registration fee?
A: We suggest to you wait until we confirm the summer program no later than the application deadline date. Please stay tuned!
Q: Where do participants meet up with the group? Where do I buy airline tickets to?
A: Please buy your tickets all the way to the 1st stop/city on the itinerary. We have no meetup spot in the U.S. because the participants will come from all around of the states.
Q: Is it possible to accommodate a vegan diet?
A: The host organization can provide a few dishes every meal that are all veggies. Please specify "Vegan Diet" for Special Diet Requirements on the Registration Form.
Q: What is the accommodation arrangement? Will participants stay in a hotel or dormitory or others? How about the room type – single room or shared room?
A: Participants will stay at hotels (4 stars) when traveling outside of Wuhan. In Wuhan, they will be staying at the International Student Dorm of the Central China Normal University. Two students will share a room.
Q: I don’t use Zelle. Do you accept other payment methods like Venmo?
A: Aside from Zelle, we only accept checks payable to American Language Education Institute. For check payments, please send pictures of both sides of the check (email [email protected] and cc [email protected]), and then mail the check to 770 Mass Ave. #391631, Cambridge, MA 02139.
Q: My kids and I are applying for the same summer program. Will we get to stay together during the tours?
A: Group A (13-18 years old) and Group B (19-45 years old) have the same itinerary with only a few different activities. Hence, even though you and your kids may join the different groups, you will be together on most occasions. If there are not enough applicants for Group B, we will even merge the two groups into one.
Q: I may be unavailable to attend certain activities due to work commitments. Can I request to stay in the hotel or dorm on some days, if needed?
A: You may skip some activities, but you will need to talk to the teacher leading the group and get their permission for you to be absent. You would also need to sign a Release/Waiver of Liability Form, with the teacher as the witness.
